History of St. Patrick's Day - Pub Crawls & Parades in Massachusetts

Tips for St. Patty’s Day Celebrations

St. Patrick’s Day is actually a religious and cultural holiday that is celebrated on March 17th. It was named in honor of Ireland’s patron saint. The festival is actually a way to commemorate when Christianity arrived in Ireland, as well as celebrating the culture and heritage of the Irish. Many people around the world, regardless of whether they are Irish, celebrate the holiday. Ale, food and everything green mark March 17th. To celebrate the day in true Irish style, consider following the tips below. The South Boston St Patty's Day Parade Will march on Sunday March 16th, 2014.

The History of St. Patrick's Day

Learn a little bit about the history of the day. St. Patrick’s Day is a religious festival over in Ireland that has been celebrated for more than a thousand years, although it wasn’t until the 1970s that it was recognized as a celebration of the heritage and culture of the Irish. St. Patrick, Ireland’s patron saint was given credit for bringing Christianity to Ireland.

Go green. Of course, you don’t need some crazy sweater with a ginormous green shamrock on it, but you do want something a little festive to celebrate the day. You are free to be as bold or as subtle as you like on this day. Many people opt for the traditional green t-shirt that says, “Kiss me, I’m Irish!”, but you can choose to wear whatever you feel comfortable in.

Even if you have to work that day, you can always incorporate a little bit of green into your work clothes. Green socks, undies, polo shirts and ties are great ways to show your love of the holiday without having to go overboard.

Everyone is Irish On St Patty's Day!

Accessories are important too. Pins, buttons and other pieces of jewelry are all excellent methods for dressing your outfit up. On St. Patrick’s Day, they are a great way for you to express your fun fashion side. Nothing is too much when it comes to March 17th. Wear buttons that have clever sayings on them to show your spirit. If you don’t want to overdo it, you can always wear a small shamrock pin to express your love of the holiday.

Learn a few Irish phrases and words. Irish have their own unique dialect when it comes to the English language. If you want to sound as if you are truly Irish, you can sprinkle in a few pieces of their dialect into a conversation. Make sure you know what you are saying to avoid any confusion in conversation. Also if you plan on attending the pub crawl in Boston MA you may have a few slurs in your words as well.

The penalties for drunk driving in Massachusetts are harsh. The main thing is that you need to think and act responsibly. Don’t get behind the wheel of a car after celebrating with your loved ones. You could wind up in more trouble than what it’s worth. Let a sober person drive you where you need to go to prevent any unnecessary legal expenses. Remember to drink responsibly, assign a designated driver or call a cab or rent a room. Being arrested for a OUI will far exceed the cost of a room.

Happy St. Patty's Day!
